Coast to Coast for Kids Charity
Our Event
Based on personal experiences, David Bonne and Scott Gilbertson will be cycling in August 2010 from Cooktown to Sydney (3,000km in 30 days) to raise a combined total of $200,000 for the Tumbatin Clinic - Sydney Children Hospital Randwick (they provide early diagnosis and assessment of children from mental disabilities/autism, there is currently a 6 month waiting list on early detection and treatment, the clinic also provides weekly parent support groups) and the Bonnie Babes Foundation (who provide funding to fertility research and support parents with the grief of miscarriage and stillbirth). Our Cause
Having children is not as easy as people think and our two stories go into what families endure to create and raise a family. From fertility issues to early diagnosis of your child's mental disabilities or autism, our two charities will go a long way to helping kids and parents alike to live as full and happy lives as possible.
The statistics speak for themselves: -
· 20% of the population suffer from infertility (40% male factor, 40% female factor & 20% unknown)
· 1 in 4 pregnancies end from miscarriage (sadly over 65,000 babies are lost each due to miscarriages)
· 1 in every 140 babies are stillborn (6 babies are stillborn each day in Australia - sadly nearly 2,200 babies are lost each year).
· 1 in 10 babies are premature (pre 37 weeks) and 50% of these babies struggle to survive.
What we are doing is organising a Charity event from scratch - it is a full-time commitment both physically and logistically and we need family, friends, colleagues and strangers to get on board in order to achieve our goal.
Please visit our website - www.c2c4kids.com.au - to read our stories, track our progress, and most importantly to donate.
The statistics above have not changed in over 10 years.... · Of those babies who are born and survive, 3% then suffer from a development or learning disability.
